We can’t wait to see you at the festival everyone is talking about! River Rock is a genuine family-friendly music celebration that is naturally enhanced by local food growers and artisan crafters. This is an exciting year of evolution for our festival as we move to an expanded beautiful new green space location in historic St. Marys - one of Ontario’s prettiest recognized towns - carefully selected to be reflective of River Rock’s roots. The superb parkland setting for our earthy affair is a sensational 3-acre oasis that gently rests on Thames River’s serene banks under the watchful eye of a 19th century stone viaduct. Stonetown amenities and downtown merchants are conveniently just steps from the festival.
For three years the seeds of spirited celebration have been sown at River Rock with joyful harmony, smiles, interaction and memories than will forever echo. This August 10th and 11th, our fruitful vision will further grow as folks reunite for soulful renewal, enlightening engagement, and the most entertaining mix of musicians this rural area will experience this summer. Come share this special celebration and add to our festival magic.
On-site parking exists for about 300 vehicles. Additional spaces and two municipal lots are readily available a short walking distance from festival grounds (kindly refer to map below). In keeping with River Rock’s environmental focus, we encourage festival guests to consider possible car pooling, walking, biking or train travel. We appreciate your eco-sensitivity and so does our planet.
FOOD & DRINK
River Rock is also a celebration of local, organic and slow foods & beverages, so palate-pleasing food sampling, education and purchase opportunities will be right on-site. Our festival will be fully-licensed featuring four local craft beer/cider vendors: Black Swan (Stratford), Tall Grass Honey Hops and Mead (Thorndale), and ever popular Twin Pines Cider. A variety of alcohol-free beverage options will also exist and complimentary water dispensary will be available to all on-site guests. Our first “food pavilion” featured local exhibitors including: Grounded (Stratford), Rebel Remedy (London), Stonetown Cheese (Rannoch), Lyn River Farms (Tavistock) and several others – demonstrating a genuine “100 Mile” locally sourced philosophy with gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and organic overtones.
To facilitate our “zero waste” intentions, reusable 14-ounce River Rock souvenir mugs will be sold. Festival goers may also bring their own comparable environmentally sensitive beverage containers. Please note, automated tellers will not be available on-site (but are nearby), so kindly bring money for possible purchases.
ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN/WORKSHOPS
River Rock is an inclusive family weekend event. Child play and art participation opportunities will run throughout our open-air parkland venue to complement local artisan vendor and one-of-a-kind handcraft exhibitions catering to adults. Thanks to tremendous assistance from Perth County Pop Up, last year’s River Rock introduced a wonderful new interactive tent workshop activity area featuring: jewellery making, circular weaving, block printing, daisy head bands, yoga and other crafts. We hope to expand the “all ages” hands-on fun this year! Admission to River Rock is free to youngsters 12 and under, so please bring the entire family.
With 20+ hand-selected artisan craft exhibitors dispersed amidst the riverside trees and breeze, River Rock is more than one big happy family with an abundance of talent! From unique jewellery and handmade pottery, to recycled clothing and renewed glassware, plus delightful tote bags and cigar box guitars, our festival offers a bounty of extraordinary one-of-a-kind gift ideas to peruse and choose.
INCLUSIVITY AND GIVING BACK
River Rock is committed to community inclusivity, accessibility, and support. Our festival provides on-site portable and fixed comfort stations and Volunteer assistance services to help promote a positive guest experience. River Rock’s mission is rooted in giving back to community. Our not-for-profit framework directs post-expense event proceeds to local green initiatives and community efforts.
